Cllr Brian Stephens, Cabinet member for neighbourhoods and local partnerships, Durham County Council, said: “Household waste recycling centres are an extension of household recycling facilities and provide the perfect solution to dispose of larger items free of charge.

“Everyone has a personal responsibility in ensuring they manage their waste legally and these centres can help you do that.”

Waste produced by businesses (commercial waste) is not accepted at household waste recycling centres. Business waste must be disposed of legally at an appropriate licensed facility or by arranging a commercial waste collection.
