Information Update – 10th August 2009
New to the team.
I am pleased to welcome two new Community Support Officer’s (PCSO) to our Neighbourhood Team.
Andrew Taylor and Amy Coulson are now part of the Sedgefield Neighbourhood Police Team; both will provide valuable support and assistance to the community.
Nuisance Motorcycles.
With the successful Operation Adonis still running we have had a significant reduction in complaints in the use of off road motorcycles and mini motos. However two unknown persons are still using the rear of Carrside Road and Elwick View as a race track. Patrols will focus on this area in the coming months in order to stop the persons responsible with a view to seizing the bikes.
Push bike thefts.
In recent weeks we have had a slight increase in push bike thefts, some of these could have been prevented by locking the bikes away or keeping them from view. The local authority provide a free bike marking service which recently helped us in the return of an expensive mountain bike to a local resident which had been initially stolen. At present we are appealing for any information in relation to the theft of any bikes. This information can be passed in confidence to me or anonymously to me or by using crime stoppers.
School Parking.
Next month sees the schools reopen, extra patrols around school drop off and collection times will be conducted in an effort to prevent parking complaints and issues in and around the schools. Can all parents who use the car for the school runs take extra care as to where they park, all parking offences can incur a Fixed Penalty Notice which is a £30 fine.
Posters regarding this will be displayed in local notice boards as well as at schools.
