Trimdon Concert Brass – That’s Entertainment
Taken by Gavin Burn, Trimdon Concert Brass

Trimdon Concert Brass Band is celebrating after winning two prizes at the Brass in Ripon Entertainment contest held in Ripon Cathedral earlier this month.
The Band won the prize for the most entertaining band and 3rd place overall. The Band’s 1940s themed line-up featured Colonel Bogey march, a medley of wartime music including the Vera Lynn classic We’ll Meet Again performed by Wayne Huntington on Euphonium. The performance ended with Nightfall in Camp which featured the Last Post played by the Bands Principal Cornet player Lynsey Garraghan.
The performance also marked Will Harrison’s debut as Musical Director.

Members of the band are hoping that this success will encourage others to join them. There are currently between 25 and 30 regular members but it is hoped this will now increase. The Band is particularly interested to hear from anyone who can play Bb Bass, Baritone and Cornet.

The Band also has a junior section which offers free tuition and instrument hire to its members.
Forthcoming performances of the Band include Durham Miners Gala, Durham Brass Festival and the National Brass Band Finals in Cheltenham. Dennis Jordan Secretary of the band said “This is a very exciting time for us all and we have so much to look forward to over the next few months”
The Band is now focused on raising the necessary funds to take part in the Finals in Cheltenham in September and would like to hear from anyone who would like to contribute.
