The Band clinched its place after coming first out of twelve bands in the Fourth Section of the Northern Regional Championships at the Dolphin Centre, Darlington on Saturday 16th March.

The Bands Musical Director John Robson said “To walk on to the stage and conduct this band at the National Finals will be a dream come true for me.”

Members of the band are hoping that this success will encourage others to join them. There are currently between 25 and 30 regular members but it is hoped this will now increase. The Band is particularly interested to hear from anyone who can play Bb Bass, Baritone or Cornet.

The Band also has a junior section which offers free tuition and instrument hire to its members.

Forthcoming performances of the Band include Ripon Entertainment Contest, Durham Miners Gala and Durham Brass Festival. Dennis Jordan, Secretary said “This is a very exciting time for us all and we have so much to look forward to over the next few months”

The Band is now focused on raising the necessary funds to take part in the finals and would like to hear from anyone who would like to contribute.
