Crime Prevention
As the nights get darker…
Remember the Winter nights message:
Before leaving your home make sure you have locked both your front and back doors and your windows.
Although this one sounds simple, almost a third of properties are burgled due to an unsecure door or window.
Consider leaving a light on before you go out when it’s dark. This is another simple step to help protect your home. It’s a fact that properties left in darkness are more likely to be targeted by burglars.
Close your curtains when heading out for the night,
If you have a house alarm – please use it!
Further Appeals.
We need to trace three men who were involved in an attempted robbery in Trimdon Village last night just after 7.30pm.
It would appear that two of the men forcibly entered the property on Meadow Road in the village and threatened the owner with violence in an attempt to steal money. They made off from the property when the owner shouted for help.
The two suspects who entered the house are described as men in their twenties and of about 5’7” in height. One of them was wearing a green coat.
Sergeant Alex Clarke said: “The victim was thankfully uninjured during the attack; however he was understandably extremely shaken. We would appeal to anyone who was nearby at the time to get in touch if they have information that might help us trace those responsible.”
If you were in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious please get in touch, either by sending us a private message on Facebook or by calling 101 and asking to speak to the Sedgefield neighbourhood policing team.
