Minutes of a meeting held Tuesday 6th November 2007 at 6.30pm in Trimdon Colliery Community Centre

The chair opened the meeting with a minute’s silence for member L. Hovvells on her recent bereavement.

APOLOGIES – L. Hovvells, M. Girvan, P. Duddin, K. Tweddle, B. Thompson, M. Hughes

PREVIOUS MINUTES
It was pointed out that in the Groundwork update, Trimdon Parish Council should have read Trimdon Foundry Parish Council.
The previous minutes were then passed as a true record.

OFFICER’S REPORTS
1)A meeting had been held with PCT Health Service. Main problem highlighted was concern over proposed reduction in G.P. hours at Trimdon Village surgery. David Gallagher to attend December meeting with report so far.
2)As there was no trustee in place for Trimdon Station, V. Kemp proposed C. Carter, seconded by P. Hutchinson.
3)It had been suggested that regular Health Forums be held.
4)There had been no more news on the funding application for Trimdons’ co-ordinators. It is to be presumed that this money has been re-allocated.

CORRESPONDENCE
1)CAVOS – workshops at Sedgefield
2)Ian Davey (Sports & Leisure in Sedgefield) looking for indoor venue at Trimdon Colliery/Station for winter months.
(At this point, Groundwork informed members that Trimdon Colliery community centre is to have floodlights erected in the very near future)
3)Poster from General Health Facilities – “Big Conversation” to be held at Newton Aycliffe.

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
There were no reports from any of the subcommittees.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
1) Louise reported on Asset Based Community training forum. Funding bids from each Trimdon have been forwarded to Community Champions.
2)Christine Robinson from DISC gave a talk on their involvement with educating people on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. It was suggested that this be advertised in Trimdon Messenger.
3)Trimdon Grange Community Centre reported that the centre will still be open during the replacement of their existing roof.
4)Health Forum at Trimdon Station Residents Association on 11th December (in Community House).
5)Only 9 boys and 4 girls attended the recent Young People’s Healthy Lifestyle
6)It was agreed to use next meeting for our 3 guest speakers.
7)It was agreed Ginny organise a buffet for next meeting.



GROUNDWORK – NEW PROJECT

Steve gave handouts and explained about their new project on behalf of Sedgefield Borough Council. It will cover 3 Trimdons. A member from each of the Trimdons have volunteered to assist Groundwork with this. It was suggested to try and encourage some young people to become engaged in this project.

The meeting closed at 7.50pm

Next Meeting is on Tuesday 4th December 2007 at 6.30pm in Trimdon Colliery Community Centre
