Information Update – 8th December 2006
OPERATION DARC
This operation has been launched to raise awareness regarding security of property, vehicles and other personal possessions. The operation will be supported by two separate leaflets drops offering crime prevention advice and security products. The first leaflet will be delivered with this months Trimdon Messenger, the second in the New Year. The main theme is “A DARK HOUSE IS A VULNERABLE ONE”, please take time to read this information and assist the police in reducing crime.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
We have had some excellent results tackling this issue over the past two months. Calls regarding anti social behaviour have reduced dramatically. One local male from Trimdon Village who was recently released from prison is now subject to a Criminal Anti Social Behaviour Order due to his persistent offending.
This order greatly restricts the individual’s life style and conduct and increases our powers to arrest the male should he offend.
Any person/youth who comes to our attention and is stopped by police for any incident of anti social behaviour will have their name, address and parent’s details taken. This will result in a letter being sent to their parents outlining why police have stopped and spoken to them.
On the third occasion if the same youth/person is stopped this results in a home visit by myself to address any welfare issues and speak with the individual and parents. Should the pattern continue the individual then can be subject to a review for an acceptable behaviour contract or crasbo application.
YOUTHS AND ALCOHOL
A common theme we are encountering is adults buying alcohol at the request of local youths who are then consuming the drink in public places. If the identity of these adults is traced they commit a criminal offence and will be prosecuted.
DRINK DRIVE
Extra traffic patrols, both mornings and at night, will be stopping vehicles and where appropriate taking breath tests of drivers. This is a regular campaign to target drink drivers over the festive period.
