SKERNE PLAY PARK COMMUNITY FENCE APPEAL

p8jun01Wow! Skerne Play Park - what a fantastic success this project has been. Now the time has come to protect this most valuable asset which belongs to the community of Trimdon Village.
We need to raise £20,000 for a perimeter fence. Over the next few months we are once again appealing to the generosity of the people from the Trimdons and are asking you to assist us in raising/donating funds. Many thanks to Trimdon First Responders who have started us off with a kind donation of £500.00.
One of our most successful fundraising activities that our children have done was a coin collection. We will be placing containers for you to put your loose change in around the shops, pubs and businesses in the Trimdons. We hope your copper jars are very healthy. Please go along and empty them at one of the marked collection points. Or why not walk up to the Play Park, and drop your change off at the collection point at 4 Burn Oval.
Skerne Play Park Association, Volunteers and the children would like to thank you for your generosity. If anyone has any other fundraising ideas or would like more information about the fence please contact Sheila on 07720662857.

THE COMMUNITY GARDENERS
The Community Garden opened in March 2003. Over the last four summers we have held events to raise money for our own garden, Skerne Park Play area, Trimdon Churches and the Air Ambulance.
This year our event is for the regeneration of the whole allotment site as we are trying to raise £20,000 for secure fencing and road improvements, the allotment holders having tidied up the site considerably. p8jun03p8jun04
We are open to anyone with an interest in gardening. At the moment all our plots are being used but anyone is welcome on Saturday or Wednesday afternoons from 1.30p.m. - 3p.m. weather permitting, to help weed, water, offer advice or just have a chat.
The garden is also being used by Trimdon Junior School and St.p8jun05William’s School as an additional learning tool. The children have learned about soil, compost, recycling, how to plant seed, take cuttings, plant potatoes, onions and other vegetables, and are very interested in how their plants are growing.
We thank you in advance for helping us and hope you enjoy your visit.
