Hi everyone,

I’m Alan and I’m standing to be our Labour MP for the new constituency of Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor. You may have seen there will be a General Election on Thursday 4th July.

I wanted to introduce myself - I was born, raised and live in Newton Aycliffe. I’ve spent my career trying to make a difference, working for charities, housing associations and as a councillor.
I’m standing to be our MP because I think our community deserves better. After 14 years of Tory government, families are worse off, NHS waiting lists are at a record high and NHS dentistry is non-existent.
For the last two years, I’ve been out every week chatting to local people. If we haven’t had a chance to meet yet, I really hope to chat to you over the next few weeks.
