Cookies and your computerThis site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. The Trimdon Times does not collect or store any information itself, our use of cookies is simply to count visitors to the website and to see whether they are a new visitor or have used the site before.

This website uses Google Adsense (advertising) as a way of generating a small amount of revenue to help with hosting charges. Google adverts use cookies to track users interests to target adverts to your specific interests, as do nearly all popular websites, e.g. eBay, Facebook, Amazon etc. etc.
You may have already noticed that items you have looked at on eBay or Amazon mysteriously appear in adverts on other web pages – that’s how it works!!

In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

If you are interested in clearing unwanted cookies and lots of other rubbish from your computer in an easy user-friendly way, we would recommend CC Cleaner from Piriform. The free version is more than adequate and is a very useful tool for any computer user.
Details and download from the Piriform website here.

Note that if you decide to disable cookies many websites will no longer work as you expected. (The Trimdon Times will 🙂 )
You may find that you cannot log in to websites, or your preferences are not saved. These are just a few of the functions performed by cookies.

The Trimdon Times website does not receive any financial support or regular funding from anyone, and relies solely on the small income from Google adverts to offset the running costs involved for web hosting etc.
Donations, however small, via PayPal are very welcome if you have found the website useful or interesting.

Most of the adverts and notices published for local business are free, and only occasionally is a charge made for a full page advert – details here.
All the articles, information and photographs are provided free of charge by whoever sends them, and nobody gets paid for editing or otherwise working on the website.

Thank you,

Ken at Trimdon Times
