Street Wardens

New number for Street Wardens
District of Easington street wardens now have a new base and a new telephone number. From Wednesday 1st June residents needing to speak to the wardens should call
 0191 527 50 47.

Previously people living in different parts of the district had two different numbers to call but a move to Peterlee Police Station means that all calls are now routed through to one number.
The transfer to Peterlee Police Station also means that there will be a more co-ordinated approach with other agencies, especially the police and joint Anti-Social Behaviour unit which will also be located at the station. Working closely together will ensure that residents  problems are dealt with more speedily and information shared across the services .
The Street Warden Scheme ,which aims to tackle anti-social behaviour  and neighbourhood problems,, has now been running for three years and covers the whole of District of Easington.
The initiative has been a great success in helping reduce arson, abandoned vehicles and dealing with such problems as dog fouling ,fly tipping and littering .
District of Easinton Councils executive member of the environment ,Councillor George Patterson, said :
"The street warden scheme has been a great success and since last year now covers the entire district. Residents benefit greatly from these dedicated community officers who help improve the quality of life and the environment . This move to Peterlee Police Station and new number will make the service more accessible and help improve an already winning scheme"
