The message from the teen in Trimdon and the "Dovey" reminded me of what we had for leasure time way back then. The landlord of a local pub ,long gone used to allow us underaged drinkers into the back room. We were allowed one half pint and access to the jukebox as long as we were quiet and well behaved. We had a good night out for a shilling and six pence, thats 7.5 pence
( seriously), and if us young lads got more that a half and then got loud the older boys , 17/18 put us in our place for fear of spoiling a good thing. That was around 1966. now I feel old . Any good pub stories out there !

Hi Lauren, what's the dovey and what's mint about it,( do you mean the dovecote pub) I would love to see pictures of it too. I have spent many a drunken evening in there.

I hope ypu all get something to do in Trimdon, things will only change if people like yourself make your opinions heard, good for you.

By pure chance I visited the Trimdon Times website and was amazed to find photographs of my brother George Bradwell from the 60,s when he first went to live in Trimdon. When he married Vera Skelton from Deaf Hill he left Wheatley Hill and went to live next door to his mother in law in Station Row in the Foundry and from there moved to Nottingham in the 70,s to work in Hucknall where he still lives with Vera his wife.My brother was well known in the Trimdon area for his love of dogs and apart from the two in the photos, he had at the same time a greyhound which had a very succesful racing career. The greyhound was called Domino King named because my father was an expert domino player and champion. The dog after breaking a hock was kept as a pet(which was unusual in those days, normally they were destroyed)and went on to live for about 22 years, which was a record at the time for a greyhound
